Decisions Pending
- ABC USD's Board of Education meets Tuesday, Oct. 6 (Closed Session 5:15-7:00 p.m., Open Session 7:00 p.m., District Office Board Room, 16700 Norwalk Blvd., Cerritos) with an agenda that, among roughly 24 numbered action/consent items, includes: the district's disclosure and proposed approval of tentative agreements with AFSCME (Local 2229, Council 36) and CSEA (ABC Chapter #24) amending compensation, benefits, hours/overtime and grievance procedures for classified staff — the bargaining units that per the agenda's own scope cover classified employee categories including instructional-support and maintenance classifications; a tentative agreement on Management/Confidential employee compensation; and contract amendments extending Superintendent Gina Zietlow, Deputy Superintendent/CFO Toan Nguyen, Assistant Superintendent-Academic Services Carol Castro, and Assistant Superintendent-HR Joseph Fraser through June 30, 2029. The agenda (as published by the district) also proposes Resolution 26-13 reaffirming the district's Alondra Boulevard property as surplus and continuing the sale process, a new Assistant Director-Nutrition Services job classification, a Revolving Cash Fund increase from $75,000 to $500,000, and resolutions recognizing Filipino American History Month and Red Ribbon Week and supporting Proposition 3. A full preview with the complete item list is published separately as an agenda preview 16.
- The City of Cerritos' monitored sources flagged two new postings: a City Council Meeting now listed for Oct. 12, 2026, 7:00 p.m. at Council Chamber, City Hall, 18125 Bloomfield Ave. (no agenda document posted yet as of this observation) 15, and an update to the city's General Municipal Election (March 2, 2027) page, which the city says will decide two City Council seats and a proposed charter-amendment ballot measure (Measure L); the city's own candidate-nomination period runs Nov. 9-Dec. 4, 2026 1.
- LA County's Board of Supervisors agenda page shows a new posting (including a supplemental agenda, in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Tagalog versions) for its Oct. 6 meeting 8; the observer only captured the posting, not itemized agenda contents, so no item-level claims are made here.
